About

Hello! My name is Rebecca Bates and I am a licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington State (LH60815804) and hold Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C). I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Gonzaga University in 2013 and my Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Puget Sound in 2015.

I specialize in working with adults navigating perinatal and postpartum mental health. As a Perinatal Mental Health Certified (PMH-C) clinician, I have advanced training in supporting concerns like postpartum anxiety and depression, and managing the transitions that come with motherhood. As a mom of three, I also bring a personal understanding of the complexity and intensity of this stage of life. In addition, I have extensive experience supporting individuals recovering from eating disorders and working to improve body image, which often intersects with these transitions.

I aim to tailor aspects of my approach based on the unique needs and goals of the client I am working with, pulling from a variety of therapeutic modalities including; CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). I also utilize principles of Intuitive Eating and Health at Every Size when supporting someone in eating disorder recovery.
